ShaMeika has worked in various fields of social work for the past 12 years, including gerontology, Medicaid insurance, DHS, mental health, hospice, hospital settings, and case management. She is currently a certified in two areas of practice that are both dear to her heart, trauma-focused therapy and grief therapy. Also, she has obtained additional certifications, including tobacco education and cessation treatment, trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy specifically designed for foster care youth, cognitive-behavioral therapy, advanced cognitive-behavioral therapy, and person-centered therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Thee I Love, Jackson State University, her Master of Social Work and Administrative Leadership degree from Texas State University – San Marcos, and her Specialist in Education - Psychometry degree from Jackson State University. She has engaged in social work practice as a student, intern, and practitioner in the states of Mississippi, New Jersey, and Hawaii. Her experience with various populations/settings includes foster care youths, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, veterans, terminally ill, and mental/behavioral health.
ShaMeika's motto is rooted in Isaiah 61:1-3, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."
Anthony has worked in the field of mental health for over 27 years. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of MS and he holds multiple certifications within his area of practice, including tobacco education and cessation treatment, youth mental health first aid training, cognitive-behavioral therapy, advanced cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy specifically designed for foster care youth, and certified integrated mental health professional. Anthony earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Guidance and Counseling from Jackson State University. He has worked in the areas of community mental health, vocational rehab, hospital settings, foster care counseling, and the private counseling sector. Also, he has participated in several research studies pertaining to tobacco cessation and education. Anthony is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. as well as a veteran of the United States Army.
Anthony's motto is rooted in Philippians 3:13-14, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
